Chapter 29 Connect Groups provide safe, facilitated spaces where participants can connect with others who understand, reducing isolation, and receive practical and emotional support from qualified facilitators.
Participants are identified through community referral. They may include, but are not limited to people with disability. living with mental health challenges, including depression and anxiety, or people experiencing social isolation, including migrants and victims of domestic violence.
Our programs are engaging, creative, and enjoyable, recognising that fun and connection are powerful tools for healing. Developed in consultation with an Occupational Therapist, activities are structured to support mental health and psychosocial wellbeing by strengthening skills such as cognition, coordination, emotional regulation, patience, problem-solving, and resilience.
Delivered within a lived-experience framework, Connect Groups provide compassionate, non-clinical support informed by a real understanding. Through shared experiences, participants are supported to rebuild confidence, improve focus, and gently re-engage with others in ways that feel safe and achievable. This strengths-based approach helps alleviate distress, reduce overwhelm, and foster a sense of capability, control, and social connection.
The focus of Connect Groups is on providing relief and support, helping participants feel seen, connected, and supported, while promoting confidence, resilience, and overall wellbeing.

All Connect Groups are delivered within a lived-experience framework, ensuring support is compassionate, non-clinical, and grounded in real understanding of distress. The focus is on relief—helping participants feel seen, supported, and less alone during times of vulnerability.
